Brant Barrett will do a presentation on Street Photography – His Work is currently on display at the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach
Brant is a Documentary and Fine Art Photographer. His photographic projects include such diverse topics as wildlife management at Santee Coastal Reserve, tobacco farming in Horry County, and most recently, Street Photography in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.
As a youth, Brant spent untold hours fishing, swimming and crabbing in St. Helena’s Sound near Beaufort, South Carolina. Those early years instilled in him a life-long love of nature and the South Carolina Low country. As he grew older, Brant discovered the importance of history and how it gives context to, and a deeper understanding of our current circumstances.
All of Brant’s projects connect the viewer to a place and time. Through his visual interpretation of the natural world and mankind’s relationship to it, Brant provides insight into today’s complex society.
Brant’s photography has been shown at the Colleton County Museum and Farmers Market in Walterboro SC, the Contemporary South show in Raleigh NC, the South Carolina Biennial in Columbia, at Artfields in Lake City, SC and Southern Exposures in Pike County, Ga. This summer he has a solo show at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum
Brant just started posting to Instagram and is trying to post one street photography image each day. He is also on Facebook.
